Life Is For Living and Learning

2012 Olympic Games

Well the UK is certainly dazzling the world with its Games but I wonder deep inside if the money spent is not a great travesty.

In these times of economic misery should we really be pouring tens of millions of dollars into an event that really has no lasting benefit?

The UK is close to the Eurppean nightmare of Greece and Spain but seems largely unaffected and unworried.

I also wonder whether it is fair that only the rich nations can afford to field large teams whereas the poorer, developing nations bring a team you can count on one hand.

The 2012 Olymic Games bother me and not for a good reason.

James Allen – Love Life. Live A Life Of Purpose.

James Allen was a British philosopher who lived between 1864 and 1912. He has over 22 books in the public domain and it is clear that he was one of the early pioneets of the self-improvement movement. He had much to teach and it is all still relevant today.

What Is Success?

He was a firm believer in meditation and spent many hours a day communing with God. His meditations have been published in the form of one for each day of the month.

The man is the all-important factor.
A man imagines he could do great things if he were not hampered by circumstances—by want of money, want of time, want of influence, and want of freedom from family ties. In reality the man is not hindered by these things at all. He, in his mind, ascribes to them a power which they do not possess, and he submits, not to them, but to his opinions about them, that is, to a weak element in his nature. The real “want” that hampers him is the want of the right attitude of mind. When he regards his circumstances as spurs to his resources, when he sees that his so-called drawbacks are the very steps up which he is to mount successfully to his achievement, then his necessity gives birth to invention, and the “hindrances” are transformed into aids.
He who complains of his circumstances has not yet become a man.
How relevant this is to life today? We al have so many excuses for our situations. Really we should be perceiving the obstacles as challenges to help us grow and create solutions.
If we do not perceive something as an obstacle it cannot be an obstacle.
We should stop complaining, take responsibility for our situation, give gratitude and take action.

As you know I am an avid student of Abraham (Esther and Jerry Hicks).

Well Being

As usual they have wonderful words of wisdom for us.

The one factor that has been unknown by most humans, that is understood by the beasts, is that Well-being truly does abound; and that you are blessed beings who live in an atmosphere of grace; and that unless you are doing something to pinch off the Well-being, it will be yours. Look for the evidence of the Well-being, and be an advocate for Well-being rather than an advocate for getting rid of what does not feel like Well-being. Then little by little by little, your own personal experience begins to take shape in a way that is more satisfying to you.

— Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop in San Francisco, CA on Saturday, August 18th, 2001 # 93

What this means is that humans tend not to expect and concentrate on well-being. They do not understand that well-being is their destiny.

Often if things are not exactly as they would like they concentrtae on how to change them, thus attracting more of what they do not want. Instead the key is to continue focusing on the well-being and circumstances that you do want.

Remember, everything is as it is for a reason. Give thanks and see the benefits of each situation.

You Get What You Expect So Why Expect Less Than The Best?

Expect The Best

Esther and Jerry Hicks have another important message for us:

The premise that so many people come from is that good isn’t natural; good must be demanded or manipulated or orchestrated. And we say, good IS natural! It must be asked for, and it must be expected — but Good is the only Stream that flows.

— Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop in Tarrytown, NY on Saturday, May 15th, 1999 # 84

It is essential that you remember that you control your own destiny with your thoughts. If you focus on ‘not having’ then that is exactly what you will receive. If you focus on ‘having something less than the best’ then that is exactly what you will receive. The universal Law of Attraction means that it cannot be otherwise.

You attract the outcome that resonates with the vibrations that you are putting out into the universe.

This is why it is so important to make sure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds get to see ‘other lives’. If they don’t see something different to what they’ve already got they focus on what they have as being normal and attract more of the same. They get what they expect.

Once the mindset changes (ie. the mind movies change) a different vibration is released and life changes. Opportunities arise and once seized there is no looking back! There are no limits other than those in your own head.

How To Find Your Life Partner

Law of Attraction Experts Esther and Jerry Hicks have wonderful advice for everyone who feels that it is hard to find the perfect relationship.

They believe that:

People are not finding it difficult to find the mate of their dreams because that person is not out there, but because of their own contradiction to their own desire in the thoughts they offer about the subject every day.

When you consistently offer thoughts about your future relationship that feel good while you think them, that means you are consistently matching the desires that you have discovered as you have lived life. And under those conditions, only someone in agreement with your desires could come to you. Under those conditions, no need for control is necessary.
Through each exposure to interacting with others, you launch continuous rockets of desires of what you prefer. And only when you are a Vibrational Match to the culmination of those desires will you allow your rendezvous with someone who matches those intentions that you have gathered along your physical trail.

— Abraham

Excerpted from the book, The Vortex, Where the Law of Attraction Assembles All Cooperative Relationships # 80

What this means is that you must work out what it is you seek in a partner and constantly focus on how good it will feel to be with a person like this.

You will then send out vibrations that will attract a person like this into your life.

If you constantly focus on the lack of a suitable partner or on the problems you have had with past partners you will draw to you what you are thinking about.

Remember you get what you think about!

Worry Brings More Worry

Today’s Quote from Esther and Jerry Hicks made me stop and think.

Don't Worry

Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don’t want.

— Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop in Asheville, NC on Saturday, September 5th, 1998 # 69

What this means is that if we worry we are focusing our attention on lack and what we give our attention to becomes our reality.

It is really important to take a minute to stop and think what worry really achieves. If we are worying about the past this is pointless as the past is gone and we cannot change it. The only thing to do is accept the past and learn from it.

If we are worrying about the future again this is pointless because we have no certainty that this future will arrive. Much could happen to change the feared circumstance.

It is far better to focus on the now, this minute and accept that what has happened occurred for a reason and all that will happen dpends on how we deal with now and focus our thoughts.

We shape our future with our thoughts and action, not be focusing on what we don’t want. The universe cannot distinguish between what is wanted and what is not and simply delives that which is asked for by way of the attention of your thoughts.

Accept what you cannot change and change what you cannot accept. The power is within you.

Here is another great piece of advice from Jerry and Esther Hicks in relation to how you can be a co-creator of your own life.

We practice the Art of Allowing. Which means reaching for the thought that feels best, not the thought that is the real thought, not the thought that is telling it like it is. Telling it like it is only holds you where it is: “Damn it, I’m going to tell it like it is. I’m going to tell it like it is, because everybody wants me to tell it like it is.” Tell it like it is if you like it like it is. But if you don’t like it like it is, then don’t tell it like it is—tell it like you want it to be. If you tell it like you want it to be long enough, you will begin to feel it like you want it to be. And when you feel it like you want it to be, it be’s like you want it to be.

— Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop in Syracuse, NY on Saturday, September 30th, 2000 # 63

What Does This Mean?

This advice reinforces the fact that we must use our thoughts to create our life. You have to work out what it is you are seeking, focus on this, take action towards achieving it and then ALLOW the universe to deliver it to you WITHOUT paying much attention to how the delivery will take place.

If you don’t like your current situation or circumstance accept it and then remove your focus from it and focus on the circumstance that you would like. As much as possible act as though your circumstance has changed and you have already got what you want. This will ensure that you feel good and put out positive vibrations so that what you want is delivered.

You won’t block the delivery by focusing on something you don’t want and having that delivered instead.

Also, when you stop and think about it you want a particular circumstance or thing because you want the feelings that it gives you. If you already have those feelings because you imagine that you already have the circumstance or thing you have already got what you wanted. The physical manifestation is simply a technicality.

Here is another great quote from Esther and Jerry Hicks (Abraham)

Take Action

Make a decision and then make it right. There just are no wrong decisions. You could go this way, or that way, and either way will eventually get you to where you want to be. But in the moment you start complimenting yourself on the decision you’ve made, in that moment, you come back into vibrational alignment with who-you-really-are.

— Abraham

What Abraham is saying is take action. Make a decision and do something. The main reason why people are not successful is that they stand still. They want everything to be perfect before they start and perfection  can never be.

You need to start and then fix any problems and issues as you go. Take the risk.

You will feel so good about taking action that your vibration will be positive and you will start to attract more good.

The Law of Attraction is soooooooooooo powerful. Focus, take action and expect positive results. Remember – what you see is what you’ll be.

Leaving Your Child Home Own Alone

Happy Teens

I am often asked how old a child should be before you leave them home alone and there is no simple answer.

In the United Kingdom there is no specific age limit for leaving a child home alone but it is an offence to leave a child alone if it places them at risk. Parents can be prosecuted if they leave a child alone and unsupervised ‘in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health’ (Children and Young Person’s Act).

The test for you then is to determine the maturity of your child and their emotional and physical cabaility to be left alone.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) believes that:

  • children under the age of about 12 are rarely mature enough to be left alone for a long period of time
  • children under the age of 16 should not be left alone overnight
  • babies, toddlers and very young children should never be left alone

Some children may be mature and confident enough to be left alone at 12 years of age whilst others may not be ready until aged 14 or even later.

It is important to speak to your child about how they feel about being left alone. If they have no issue with it why not give them some test runs of an hour or so and see how they cope.

When you do leave your child alone:

  • leave a contact phone number for you and make sure you can answer it quickly
  • leave a list of contact people in case you can’t be reached for some reason
  • remind your child of your rules before you leave in relation to watching television, using the computer and answering the phone and door
  • speak to your child about what they should do in the case of an emergency (like a fire)
  • let your child know when you will be back and be on time
  • ask your child what they will be doing whilst you are gone

Before you leave check again that your child is happy to be left alone.

If not arrange a babysitter.

What You See Is What You’ll Be

I’m not sure if you’ve ever head of Esther and Jerry Hicks but they are amazing teachers of the Law of Attraction.

Each day they send out inspirational quotes and teachings and I thought that I would use this site to share them with you. Abraham is a spiritual being who sends messages through Esther.

We are all Vibrational Beings. You’re like a receiving mechanism that when you set your tuner to the station, you’re going to hear what’s playing. Whatever you are focused upon is the way you set your tuner, and when you focus there for as little as 17 seconds, you activate that vibration within you. Once you activate a vibration within you, Law of Attraction begins responding to that vibration, and you’re off and running — whether it’s something wanted or unwanted

— Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop in North Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, August 18th, 2002 # 37

What this means is that when you focus on something for as little as 17 seconds you send a signal out into the universe which is acted upon by the universe.

The universe does not care if what you focus on is what you want or what you do not want. It works on the basis that its role is to deliver you that which you think about most.

As a result you should be very careful to make use of the law of deliberate creation and deliberately focus your thoughts on the positive outcomes that you want to avoid being delivered what you do not want.

I’d love to hear your success stories with the Law of Attraction strategy.
